About
In 2018, The Kellogg Foundation released a report titled, “The Business Case for Racial Equity”, outlining the racial wealth gap. The State of Michigan alone stands to gain $92 Billion dollars by 2050 if we close this sizable gap. The Metro Detroit Black Business Alliance (MDBBA) seeks to do our part to help close the racial wealth gap through the lens of Black entrepreneurship. Our mission is to develop programs and advocate for policies that result in profitable and sustainable Black-owned businesses that are connected to public and private economic opportunities while building trusted relationships. Additionally, MDBBA views entrepreneurship, especially in the Black community as a workforce solution and a vehicle to spur economic development in the region. Black businesses generally hire from the communities where they operate. When we lift entrepreneurship as a workforce pathway for young people, businesses and the communities in which they serve, thrive. When Black businesses are successful, we create a multiplier effect that inevitably generates wealth within those communities.
Black Business Alliance is committed to providing our members with expanded opportunities to connect with leaders and help advocate for policies critical to the success of Black businesses in the region.
